Fremantle appoints first patron

Fremantle Press has announced the appointment of Tonya McCusker as the inaugural Fremantle Press patron.

Fremantle Press chairperson Ian Lilburne said McCusker’s role would focus on raising the Press’s profile in the arts, education and business communities.

Fremantle Press CEO told Books+Publishing McClusker’s role would be ongoing ‘with no set end date at this time’. She said the press was not ruling out the possibility of concurrent ambassadors in future, but added that ‘right now we believe it is important to focus on working with Tonya as our sole inaugural patron’.

McCusker is head of the McCusker Charitable Foundation, and is a businesswoman and former ballerina. Her first official duty as Fremantle Press patron was launching The Last Viking Returns by Norman Jorgensen and James Foley at the State Library of Western Australia.

‘Tonya is a passionate supporter of Fremantle Press events and already knows our publishing program,’ said Lilburne. ‘Both the board and staff members are thrilled to have such an engaged ambassador and advocate.’
